Our Work Approaches

The Focus of Our Efforts

Livelihoods & Food Security (Harnessing local potential for complimentary livelihoods)

Livelihood and Food Security

(Harnessing local potential for complimentary livelihoods)

We undertake livelihood projects with organized impact groups aimed at addressing livelihood challenges like limited access to resources and skills and enhancing complementary livelihood options for the poor and vulnerable communities using local resource-based approaches that lead to increased productivity.

Humanitarian Action

(Relief Support and Resilience Capacity Building)

We work in communities that are perpetually prone to natural and man-made disasters like floods, prolonged drought, strong winds, wild fires, insecurity, famine, locusts, and animal diseases. These often pose significant damages to livelihoods hence exposing people to extreme vulnerability and poverty. Therefore, we work build capacity of communities in early warning systems, disaster preparedness, reporting, prevention and response. We explore efficient and effective ways to reduce the vulnerability of households and communities to negative effects of climate change and environmental hazards.

Inclusive and Transformative Education

(Breaking the cycle of illiteracy).

We underscore that education and skills are key for vulnerable people and their households to lead productive and fulfilling lives. Therefore, we promote equity and inclusiveness in access to quality education and life skills to the deprived youth (girls and boys), as well as address socio-cultural and economic barriers to access to education. This is done through participatory, responsive community action and social enterprise innovations for women. We encourage positive parenting and lobby for support towards child education.

Quality Health Care

(Better health outcomes)

We acknowledge that health is fundamental to people’s recovery, rebuilding and restoration. Our desire is for all people to have improved access to health care systems and lifelong behavioral change. We work to ensure that access to clean water which is a basic human right affecting healthy living is met in the targeted households and communities. We encourage people’s access to HIV prevention, care and support through advocacy and linkages with HIVAIDS service providers. We work with other actors to minimize the spread and impact of neglected tropical diseases and malaria in target communities.
